Notes from Transition Town Meeting September 2009

During a meeting, we discussed alternative more green ways of travelling. Here are the ideas we came up with, in note format:

- join a Car Club
- lobby government to increase spending on alternative transport and technology
- car free days/month
- Car Pool
- Car Share
- Lift Share via website www.liftshare.com
- Encouraging firms to provide mini buses and cycle stores
- Limit flying, raising awareness about the impact of flying
- providing alternatives to flying, such as raising awareness about alternative technology, overland travel and so on
- using Carbon Calculators
- Critical Mass - cycling
- Pedestrianisation in Leamington
- 20m/h limit
- more cycle paths to encourage people to use bikes
- close the Parade more often and involve shops
- Electric cars and bikes
- Solar Powered Scooters
- life share to Gaia, supermarkets or other shops, as well as churches and schools; this could be done via getting to know the people in your street
- asking companies like NHS or Jaguar to encourage their staff to lift share

Love the train picture (my paid work involves selling ones just like it) ... how does everyone feel trains fit into the future, if they do?
